Layer 1

Terminal

Field I/O at the sensor. 4-20 mA and 0-3.3 V analog inputs, dry contact via relay, and an H-bridge output for valves and motor control. Wireless to the Base Station — no trenching, no SIMs.

Layer 2

Base Station

An on-site ARM64 server, one per site, running the full stack: dashboards, alerting, historian, user accounts (RBAC), and audit log. No cloud dependency. Open egress over MQTT, REST, and Prometheus; Modbus TCP integration here.

Layer 3

Skills

Vertical application plugins that turn raw telemetry into operational outcomes. CIP Monitoring for water treatment — in production — and Irrigation Intelligence for agriculture. CIP Monitoring is $20 per Terminal per month, billed annually.

Control is non-safety-critical. Safety trips run locally in Terminal firmware — comms are never in the safety path.

Falcon is an RO membrane-cleaning services company. Modulink has monitored their cleaning skids in continuous production since 2025 — stage-aware cycle records, overpressure and overtemp banners, alerts, and a read-only integration into their ERP. Phase 3 is signed, and Modulink hardware is designed into Falcon's product BOM.

Single-tenant, on-premise. No telemetry, no phone-home. The Base Station runs the full stack on your hardware, on your network — nobody else sees it.

No subscription hostage.

Skills degrade, they do not disable. If a license lapses, the Skill goes read-only and your sensors keep reporting. The platform never bricks.

Works air-gapped.

Deploy with no internet at all. AES-128 encryption on the LoRa link, TLS on the web UI, JWT with RBAC and an audit log throughout.
